Announcement on “the 2nd International Forum on the Development of Whole Grains Foods 2013, in Conjunction with the Establishment of China Whole Grains Council”
In response to the Chinese government’s policies on food security and promoting human health, China National Public Nutrition Improvement Project Office and the Nutrition Division of National Grains and Oil Association have decided to host the 2ndinternational forum on the development of whole grain foods 2013 on the basis of the previous forum held in 2011 in Beijing.
The organizing committee will launch the event of popular science in whole grains in Beijing during the week of World Food Day, October 16, 2013, and will hold the 2ndinternational forum on the development of whole grain foods 2013. The forum is hosted by the China National Public Nutrition Improvement Project Office, Nutrition Division of National Grains and Oil Association, and Beijing WenJinLanxun P.R. Consulting Company. The forum is supported by government leaders and experts from National Development and Reform Commissions, National Grain Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, National Health Development Planning Commission, and China Food and Drug Supervision and Administration, leading food companies worldwide, the Whole Grains Council, and Grains for Health Foundation.
The theme of the forum is “overall development in policies and standards”. All participants will have in-depth discussions on national regulations and standards on whole grain development, R&D of new products, spreading of knowledge and public education, marketing channel development and exploration, and sector organization and management. During the conference, China Whole Grains Council will be officially formed, which will be responsible for setting up the standards on whole grains in China, developing whole grain stamps/labels for the packaging, and giving awards to companies or individuals for their outstanding contributions to China’s health grains and oil industry.
